In their own language children are able to express emotions, communicate intentions and reactions, explore the language and make fun of it, so they expect to be able to do the same in English. If you want your pupils to continue thinking about English simply as a means of communication, then you cannot expect to be able to predict what language the children will you use. The following classroom management strategies can be used to help maintain student focus and create student consistency around class expectations: Be Transparent Communicating your expectations, rules and goals of the class clearly which make the students aware of what is expected of them and there is no confusion as to what students may or may not touch. You can also ask them what they wish their classroom looked like and try to accommodate some of those requests, this will make you gain students’ respect and trust because they see you are taking them into consideration. It also directly effects student’s ability to learn, as well as teacher’s ability to teach. According to The Key Elements of Classroom Management book by Joyce McLeod , Jan Fisher and Ginny Hoover there are 3 elements of a well-managed classroom: 1. Efficient use of time and classroom space. 2. Implementation of strategies that influence students to make good choices, rather than ones that attempt to control student’s behavior. 3.
